Prosperous United vs Clane United - KDUL U15’s Saturday 21st September
Match Reporter - Cillian Gordon
Prosperous United started this season flying, defeating each team they played so far. They have extended their winning streak with an 8-1 win over rivals Clane United earlier today.
They began the match with a rapid start when Brian Dwane gave a ball over the top to Tuan Lee who slotted it into the goals making it 1-0. Tuan wasn’t finished scoring as he then skilfully got past the keeper and scored another.
Clane then had a surprising attack and caught Prosperous off guard making it 2-1.
Just before half time Tuan completed his hatrick from a volley outside the box into the top corner of the goals. The midfield stayed strong with Aodhan Carew intercepting high balls from Clane and Lee Browne making promising runs on the wing.
Matthew Conneff was able to add to the score line to extend the lead. At half time Cody Reilly and Richie Courtney were substituted on to change things up in the match.
In the second half Clane were menacing on their attacks however they did not break the Prosperous defence with captain Michael Barr assisted by Louis Powell both in the centre half position.
Clane had a few shots but were denied by Cillian Gordon between the posts. Shortly after Matthew Conneff was able to score another goal to make it 5-1.
Clane then changed up their tactics and started using the wing more, fortunately for Prosperous Fionn Curran was on the wing to put an end to any attacks.
Suddenly on a promising attack Max advanced up the field while Adam Browne passed to him he flawlessly placed the ball into the bottom corner to make it his first goal of the season.
With Allen Berg, Dualta Gorry, Callum Casey and Ryan O’Kelly being brought on to keep the pressure on Clane, Prosperous United stayed strong and kept their shape through the match.
Allen Berg was next on the scoresheet adding to the Prosperous score. With the final whistle imminent Richie Courtney made a run up on the left wing with the ball at his feet and managed to get the ball into the back of the net to make the final score 8-1.
An excellent performance from Prosperous United. Hopefully Josh Holland is back from injury next week.
